Instead of one hour on the M1 motorway, it took us about 4 hours to get there - driving the coastal route via Rush, Skerries, Balbriggan, Laytown and Bettystown to Drogheda where we stopped for lunch, then around the Carlingford peninsula - stopping to see this and that on the way; Skerries mills, Bettystown beach, Carlingford castle, Victoria lock...
