Saaga's Award Ceremory, Malahide Library Thursday 23 April

Something Saaga had waited for since the previous Saturday :)

She had already told in her class about her prize the first thing on the Monday morning (20th Apr - right after I had told her about her 1st prize on the evening of Sat the 18th when the libarian had phoned me).

- They have a 'news chair' in the class and every morning their teacher asks if anybody would have any news to tell. That Monday Saaga was the first kid to raise her hand - and the first kid to step (climb?) on the chair and to tell about her prize. :)

Thursday, the 23 April we took Saaga to the award ceremony at Malahide Library. She was so happy to go and she was being so brave! She was smiling and even said some words to the people admiring her work :)

And the winners are... (they also awarded winners of writing competitions in three age groups so this was not the only competition). - As Saaga was the among the youngest ('..and we assume the youngest should go to bed soon...') - she was the first one - to get her first prize :)

Afterwards we had something to eat and drink too :) (sausages, wedges, sandwiches, nachos, candies, lollipops, coffee, wine, coke, sprite...)

The Winner and her Precious Bag:

Saaga's bag full of surpriZes - a greeting card making kit, a pack of markers and a nice princess fairytale book with a CD (the book illustrated by Olwyn Whelan). Congratulations again, Saaga!!!

PS In the Princess fairytale book there is the story 'The Princess and the Pea' by Hans Christian Andersen. Saaga (6yrs 8mths) and her friend Bethany (7yrs 11mths) listened to it and decided to make a princess show of their own - they even carried lots of pillows to the trampoline... don't think they had any peas, though... - Anyway, they wrote on the small chalkboard of ours: 'Welcome! This afternoon The Princess and the Pee' Show...

-No harm, they both know their spellings by now :) In fact, I feel more sympathy for the classmate of Roosa who (and this was before any English classes so maybe grade 2 at Koikkari School?) wrote to Roosa's friendbook her favourite movie being, instead of 'Lilo and Stitch' -> 'Lilo and Tits'...:D

PS 2 Saaga's teacher's, Mrs Flood's, mother just passed away last week. Mrs Flood will be back to teaching next week so Saaga thinks some time after Mrs Flood is back she will take some candies for her classmates to celebrate her drawing competition :)
