One of the bosses of mine sent me email today saying that an event we are planning 'just hit the hitch today'.
- What?
Not very many results with google - although I did understand, that the thingy is not going very smoothly.
My 'cubicle alien' (I work as an external at the Hughes&Hughes Booksellers Office), Davina, let me know that 'hitting the hitch' means problems. - But it also means getting married. Of course, within this context, I did understand that the very event we are planning maybe just 'hit the hitch', ie. it won't happen.
- My Dear English (native) readers, advise me if you have a wider perspective regarding the phrase! Any comments appreciated!
